Oil is trading around $95.50 and Kalshi's daily WTI book is the deepest near-dated energy contract on the platform: $154,004 today against 178,571 contracts of open interest. It settles at 18:30 UTC. Thirty rungs, quoted a point wide, and exactly one inversion in the whole ladder—a half-point crossing at $90.99 / $91.49, both above 98%, deep enough in the money that the distinction has stopped mattering.
Brent's board for the same afternoon is cleaner still: $101,129 across twenty rungs, 57,702 of open interest, and no inversions at all. Two crude contracts, two grades, one settlement window, both quoted tight and both correctly ordered. That is worth noting on a platform where the untraded rungs of a natural gas ladder are currently marking a higher strike forty-six points above a lower one.
The heaviest single position in crude is not on either of them. Polymarket's September WTI touch board turns $280,983—nearly twice Kalshi's daily book—and it asks a different question: not where oil closes, but what it touches before month-end. "↑ $100" is 56.5% on $64,231 and "↓ $85" is 41.0%. The market is pricing a genuine two-sided September: a better-than-even chance of a hundred-dollar print and a four-in-ten chance of an eighty-five-dollar one, in the same month.
The year books hold the real paper. Kalshi's 2026 high-water ladder carries 571,050 contracts on "$115.01 or above" at 28.0% and 328,762 on "$120.01 or above" at 23.8%—open interest measured in hundreds of thousands against $40,331 of daily flow. Polymarket's all-time-high board puts 1.35% on a record before September 30 and 10.5% by December 31, with $47,135 of today's volume on the near leg.
Below: the day and the week, Brent for the same minute, the month boards, the 2026 high and low ladders, Election Day crude, and the all-time-high board.
Kalshi's daily WTI book turns $154,004 on 178,571 of open interest and settles at 18:30 UTC today, with the price sitting between "Above $95.49" at 57.0% and "Above $94.99" at 69.5%. Friday's weekly board is a $1 bucket ladder turning $43,565 on 102,876 of open interest—more standing position than the daily, two days before it settles.
Brent's daily board settles at 21:00 UTC today—the same afternoon, two and a half hours later—turning $101,129 on 57,702 of open interest with no inversions across twenty rungs. Beside it, Polymarket's September WTI touch board at $280,983, the largest crude book anywhere on the platform, pricing "↑ $100" at 56.5% and "↓ $85" at 41.0%.
The 2026 high and low ladders. "$115.01 or above" holds 571,050 contracts at 28.0%; "$120.01 or above" holds 328,762 at 23.8%; "$160.01 or above" holds 249,679 at 7.85%.
Against $40,331 of daily flow, that is a book almost entirely made of standing positions—people who put a view on 2026 crude months ago and have left it there.
WTI's daily board settles at 18:30 UTC today and Brent's at 21:00 UTC. The weekly runs to Friday, September 11; the September month boards to September 30.
- Whether WTI's single inversion at $90.99 / $91.49 clears at settlement. It is a half-point crossing between two rungs both above 98%, and $8,959 has traded across it—harmless, but the only blemish on an otherwise clean ladder.
- Polymarket's September board pricing "↑ $100" at 56.5% and "↓ $85" at 41.0% simultaneously. A touch market can consistently price both, but a 56.5%/41.0% pair implies a genuinely wide expected range for the rest of the month.
- The 571,050 contracts sitting on "$115.01 or above" at 28.0%. That is the largest single position in this workspace and it moves on supply news, not on a daily settlement.
- Brent's board as the control. If crude ever does come apart on this platform, the two grades pricing the same minute is where it will show first.
- The all-time-high board at 1.35% for September and 10.5% for the year, with $47,135 on the near leg today.
